Go hunting or fishing in the islands of Alaska's beautiful Kodiak Archipelago, or just go camping or hiking. Stay at the comfortable camp at Port Vita on Raspberry Island with Tom Stick and the courteous staff of Kodiak Discoveries. Each day you will discuss the many fishing, hunting, hiking, and other outdoor opportunities with your enthusiastic guide and decide on the adventure best suited to your interests. The great variety available allows you the opportunity to choose a completely new and different experience each day. Catch your limit of Halibut, Salmon, or other indigenous fish. Hunt for Kodiak Brown Bear (a species isolated in the Kodiak Archipelago for 15,000 years and larger than their mainland cousins the Grizzly Bear), Roosevelt Elk, or Sitka Blacktail Deer. Observe the local wildlife including Sea Otters, Bald Eagles, whales, and Puffins. Hike, camp, or simply enjoy a walk through the colorful blooming wildflowers while picking Salmonberries.
The Kodiak Brown Bear also share our salmon and berry-rich environment, and these magnificent animals are occasionally close enough for some once in a lifetime photos. A typical mature boar weighs between 800 and 1,100 lbs. and sows are often seen with 2 or 3 cubs. The rugged hills and scenic mountains behind and across from our camp and the spruce forest around us provide tremendous hiking opportunities. Not only are wildlife sightings numerous and enjoyable, but you can identify a multitude of colorful wild flowers blooming in the alpine meadows. Lots of berry picking opportunities also!
