250 pound Halibut caught while fishing near Kodiak, Alaska

At 3/4 mile wide and 200 feet deep, Raspberry Straight (which is directly in front of the Port Vita Lodge) offers great salt water fishing for halibut as well as four species of salmon as they return on their migration from sea to spawn in nearby streams.  Fishing is superb! Our access to a variety of different streams provides pure fishing enjoyment and challenge to novice as well as expert fishermen. Everyone catches fish!

For those of you interested in Fly Fishing where you can fight fish without the hassle of fighting crowds, look no further than Port Vita Lodge.  Our location on Raspberry Straight grants us access to many remote fishing areas on both Raspberry and Afognak Islands that provide excellent fly fishing throughout the season.  At Port Vita, we have something for all skill levels from beginner to expert, as well as a knowledgeable guide who will help you with fly selection and technique. For the true fanatics out there, we also offer trips targeting Halibut and Rockfish!

We furnish the deep sea tackle for halibut fishing. You should bring your own spin casting or fly fishing equipment for salmon and trout fishing in the nearby streams. Fishing licenses, hot local flies,  and some fishing tackle may be purchased at the lodge. Freezing facilities are available, so bring a cooler to take home some of your catch.
